About the blog template
The blog template is as simple or as complex as you want it to be. From simple "out of the box" blog's to custom built blogs for your personal or organisations taste's/needs or maybe something more in depth like a company web site or intranet. This site uses the 8.01 template (currently unmodified).
You can read the history of the template here.

For more information on customising your blog read here.
Creating a new blog
The template itself is hosted on the Domino Server. So you will need to create a new application on your server using the template "Domino Blog" (dominoblog.ntf). There is a simple setup wizard which you can find information on here. Once that is complete your blog is ready to go with the default theme.
There is also an article on Intranet Journal which covers setting up version 7.02 of the template but is still quite relevant for 8.01
If you are upgrading from a previous version of the blog (7.02) then you may find this presentation useful on the new features:
Using the blog
Once the wizard has been completed, then you are ready to go and its as simple as creating new "posts". A document on creating new posts can be found here. When you create new post's the site is updated automatically including the "archive" and "tag" cloud (although due to the caching for performance the archives and tag cloud may take 10 minutes to refresh).
In addition to this site, there is basic help in the Lotus Notes Help Database:
The following are things you may consider doing after creating your blog application:
- Switching on comment anti-spam if your site is outside of an organisations network.
Here's some additional features you may be interested in finding out more about:
- RSS Feeds for your content and comments
- Using the Web client to create content
- Podcasting with the blog template
- Emailing content to your blog
